All shipping uses Live Rates from major couriers and Canada Post. You get to pick the service level and carrier for your order.
Shipping Discounts:
A discount is applied to your selected live rates and that discount increases with higher value in the checkout. The more you buy – the more you save, even up to FREE Shipping! Creating our discount structure this way allows us to offer competitive pricing across all of our products without having to inflate costs with freight recovery like other retailers do. It also gives YOU the flexibility to choose whichever shipping option is the most convenient for you.
We have multiple strategically placed warehouses throughout North America. Because of this, we are usually able to offer quick shipping options anywhere in Canada and also offer shipping to USA and International destinations. Each warehouse has it’s own shipping charges attached to it, and shipping discounts apply to each warehouse individually, so for orders that consist of multiple brands of items we recommend you select our consolidated shipping option as it will usually provide a cheaper, single charge for everything in your order! Consolidated orders only ship from the Victoria, BC warehouse so keep in mind that transfer times are in addition to the courier transit times.

Choose your shipping method:
In step (2) of the checkout you will see the shipping method options. The shipping methods offered in this section are dynamic and are based on variables such as the “brand” of product(s) you have in the checkout along with quantities of items and order values. Since some of our shipping locations have minimum requirements for shipping, they may not be available to you until you meet that specific quantity or order value minimum. Consolidated from BC Warehouse is always available as this location is able to ship without the same restrictions.
Shipping to the United States
Most orders shipped from Canada to the United States are sent under Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) terms. This means your order total is intended to include the cost of products, shipping, and any applicable import duties, tariffs, or taxes charged by U.S. Customs. In most cases, no additional charges will be due upon delivery.
Due to the evolving nature of international trade policies, tariffs, and customs regulations, Skookum Tools Ltd. reserves the right to cancel or refuse any order where import duties, tariffs, shipping costs, or other cross-border charges become excessive, impractical, or materially different from those quoted or anticipated at the time of purchase. In such cases, the customer will be notified and any payment received will be fully refunded.
Order Cancellations
We understand plans can change. You may cancel your order within 24 hours of placing it for a full refund. To request a cancellation, please contact our customer service team at 1-888-665-6936. After 24 hours, your order will begin processing and can no longer be canceled.
Our primary goal is to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase!
However, we do understand that sometimes things don’t go quite right with an order so here is what you can expect from us
- If a product is defective or damaged, we back all products with a 100% guarantee. Please send us an email with a description of the problem and if at all possible, attach a photo that shows the issue and we will work with you to find the best possible solution in your circumstance.
- If you made an error and received the wrong product, we are happy to refund you as long as you return the item(s) to us via pre-paid shipping to the location that we determine the product needs to return to (within Canada). Please complete the “Product Return” form on the following page to request a return: /index.php?route=account/return/insert
- The only exception to the return policy is for Custom Made products such as made to order bandsaw blades, sanding belts and custom tooling. These items, since they were manufactured specifically for you, are not returnable. So please make sure you are ordering the exact product you need when placing an order for custom or made to order products.
- If an order is refused due to unpaid tariffs, it may be returned at the customer’s expense or considered abandoned. No refunds will be issued for abandoned packages.

HST 359 Backing Pad – for self-fastening discs
Designed for medium sanding and polishing
Sanding operations performed with handheld machines at high removal rates are the ideal use scenario for abrasive discs. The most common machines used cases are angle grinders and handheld right angle die grinders. There are two common ways to attach abrasive discs to the backing pad:
- Screw connection – the abrasive disc is equipped with a centre threaded hole for this type of attachment
- HST 359: Attachment by hook and loop fastening – in this case, the abrasive disc is equipped with a backing made of velour for a hook and loop surface
A backing pad for self-fastening discs such as the Klingspor HST 359 allows for much easier work
The HST 359 is generally suitable for all applications. Every specific application is matched with the perfect abrasive – aggressive grinding, deburring, rust removal, finishing, polishing or final surface treatment. The HST 359 backing pad for self-fastening discs can be combined with all abrasive discs that Klingspor offers with a self-fastening backing.
Which abrasive is right for the job?
Every application must be matched with the abrasive that is best suited for the job. Rough sanding requires a coarse grit size, while fine sanding or polishing jobs need to be performed with a fine grit size. Hard materials, such as glass, ceramic or mineral-based materials, require a grain of sufficient hardness, while soft, yet tough, materials are sanded with one of three kinds of aluminium oxide grains (aluminium oxide, zirconia or ceramic aluminium oxide). Klingspor carries a matching disc with self-fastening backing for each of these variants, including the specially designed HST 359 backing pad for self-fastening discs. The backing pad has been designed for medium sanding and polishing applications.
Quick and easy change of the abrasive disc thanks to hook and loop fastening
The HST 359 backing pad for self-fastening discs is equipped with a fine self-fastening backing that allows for the secure fastening of abrasive discs with a velour self-fastening backing. The abrasive disc is replaced by simply pulling off the old abrasive by hand. No tools required. The new abrasive disc needs to be positioned as centrally as possible to keep wobbling and any resulting vibrations at a minimum.
