Skookum Carbide End Mills

Built for Shops that Demand Precision and Durability.

Our Skookum Carbide End Mills are manufactured from solid carbide in Winnipeg, Manitoba. From general-purpose milling to specialised work in aluminum, stainless steel and high temperature alloys, our range gives machinists, production shops and dedicated makers options suited to the material and job.

A useful end mill starts with the right combination of geometry, dimensions and coating. Whether you're preparing for a production run or working through a one-off project, we're here to help you make that choice.

What Makes Our Skookum Carbide End Mills Different?

✔ Made in Canada

We're proud to support the skilled work behind Canadian toolmaking. Our end mills are part of our commitment to Canadian manufacturing and giving you clear information about where our tools are made.

✔ Precision-Ground Solid Carbide

Our end mills are produced on 5-axis CNC grinding equipment. Carbide grades and cutting geometries vary by series, giving you choices for general shop work and more demanding applications.

✔ Factory Regrinding & Coating Support

Our manufacturer-direct end mill sharpening service offers regrinding and coating options. A $300 minimum applies to sharpening and coating work, with services mixed and matched. Ask us about suitability for your tool's geometry and condition.

✔ Practical Help Choosing

Tell us about your material, machine and operation. Whether you're comparing cutters or troubleshooting finish and chatter, we'll help you work through the available options.

What End Mill Options Do We Offer?

Available Series

  • Standard Carbide – General-purpose cutters with 30° helix geometry and micro-grain carbide. The range includes uncoated and TiALN-coated options.
  • High Performance (HP) – Micro-grain carbide cutters with specialised helix geometry and variable pitch designed to help reduce chatter.
  • ULTRA High Performance (UHP) – Uses extra-fine sub-micron carbide, specialised helix geometry and variable pitch for demanding machining work.
  • ULTRA High Performance for Aluminum – Application-specific geometry and polished cutting surfaces for aluminum and other suitable non-ferrous materials.
  • High Efficiency Machining (HEM) – Options for high efficiency machining strategies, including selected five- and seven-flute designs and chipbreaker configurations.
  • HTAS – High Temp Alloy & Stainless – Dedicated options for high temperature alloys and stainless steel, including ALL4-coated cutters.

Coatings & Configurations

Across the line, choices include uncoated, TiALN, ALL4, ZrN and DLC. TiALN adds heat and abrasion resistance, while ALL4 is intended for demanding ferrous applications. ZrN and DLC options are available for suitable aluminum and non-ferrous machining applications. Match the coating to the selected cutter and material; availability varies by series.

Available configurations include square, ball nose and corner radius ends, with different flute counts, cutting lengths and shank styles. The Standard range also includes double-ended options. Imperial and metric sizes are available across the line.

Choosing the Right Fit

  • Your material – Start with the specific alloy and hardness, then compare suitable series and coatings.
  • Your operation – Consider slotting, pocketing, profiling or finishing when choosing geometry and flute count.
  • Your dimensions – Check cutting diameter, cutting length, overall length, end style and toolholder compatibility.
  • Your setup – Machine capability, workholding and chip clearance help determine suitable cutting parameters. Ask us for guidance for your chosen tool.

Ordering & Availability

Our End Mill Selector lets you compare dimensions, end styles, flute counts, shank types, coatings and performance options. Select a matching cutter to view its price and availability. Lead times vary by item, so contact us before ordering for a scheduled job.
